Charities that offer free help with debt

Free debt help is provided by a number of charities in the United Kingdom. The assistance from these organisations can also help borrowers deal with other types of bills that are in arrears. Experts help clients with all different types of debt arrears. There is information on credit cards, mortgages, payday loans, car payment debt, log book loans, debts due to loansharks and more. Standard bank debt help is also provided. All of the charities provide free advice to clients, no matter if they are on a low income, benefits, or are well off.

National charities with debt help schemes

There are a few organisations that provide relief across all of the UK. They have multiple offices in cities and countries, including England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Some of these charities also provide free telephone consultations, video chats, online, or email support to borrowers who are seeking help paying or bring down their debts.

StepChange is maybe the biggest and well known debt help charity. They offer over 10 different assistance programmes and schemes to their clients. All of their advice and help is free. The charity is funded by the government, banks, councils, and even fees that are placed on loan companies. Not only can this charity help clients reduce or eliminate their debts that are in arrears, but they also offer budgeting advice, information on saving and employment, and more.

A number of free services are provided. StepChange offers some or all of the following types of charitable help. They include, but are not limited to, free DAS (debt arrangement schemes), Bankruptcy Advice, payment plans, protected deed trusts, mortgage help, debt relief orders (DRO), and many others. All of this also includes free money management advice/workshops. Call them at 0800 138 1111, email, or send an online request to StepChange at https://www.stepchange.org/contact-us.aspx.

Citizens Advice is a free charity that is funded by the central government. They offer a number of resources to the low income, families on welfare, the jobless and others. Local and national not for profits and charities that offer help with debt

There are two main places to go. There are only debt centres in some towns and cities in the UK, such as London, Birmingham, Northern Ireland, Manchester, Glasgow and other major cities. The small towns and boroughs tend to not have these local charities. But borrowers can try churches or the Salvation Army charity organisations for debt help schemes.

Churches are sometimes part of CAP, or Christian Against Poverty. They offer free advice from debt centres. Coaches will be assigned to the client. They assess all the needs of the client, whether it is housing, food, credit or bank debt, or anything else. A plan is put into place to help the client with their bills and debts or other financial needs. CAP will help set up payment plans with lenders, IVA agreements and other solutions. More on getting free debt help from churches.

Community Money Advice (CMA) and the Salvation Army partner together to help families on a low or medium income pay their debts. Advisers will be assigned to each client. Not only Salvation Army centres offer these debt schemes, only some do. While many assistance programmes can be provided, the two main ones are debt management plans (DMP) as well as DRO relief orders. The Salvation Army can also give out free food, hot meals, and other help to the family. Find debt help centres from Salvation Army
