City of North Lanarkshire emergency welfare fund
In partnership with the SWF, the City of North Lanarkshire provides financial assistance to families on a low income as well as the vulnerable in the area. The council will let the client know where they need to go to collect the card and what can be taken with them.
The City of North Lanarkshire provides fuel bill help in partnership with charities and energy suppliers. A pre-paid card will help with both electricity as well as gas bills to keep the heat on during the winter. The resident needs to have applied for a payment plan from their supplier first, before applying for the local welfare scheme. Find other programmes that provide help paying gas and electric bills.
These crisis grants all noted above are provided for unplanned crisis events, such as a unexpected job redundancy or fire or flood. The hardship needs to be exceptional and unplanned for. Otherwise welfare is not available.
When applying for any of the welfare schemes in City of North Lanarkshire, the applicant needs to be over the age of 16 and have no other recourse to charity aid or public funds. Welfare will only help people that have no other access to funds from their family, savings, church, or other sources. Only one application can be done per year.
