Find help from Liverpool City Mission church organisation

Services provided by the Liverpool City Mission are wide ranging. The charity and its partner churches offer assistance to the poor and vulnerable in the city. They can provide information on temporary accommodations, government housing benefits, food, and schemes to pay the deposit on a new home. Many other programmes are also offered by the agency.

They have been assisting the less fortunate for almost 200 years. Staff and volunteers can provide clients and the poor with practical help for what they need, whether that is food, housing, or something else. There is advice for homeless or support for tenants who have some type of permanent accommodation but live in poverty.

There are a few main churches and other Rescue Centres that work with the organisation, as noted below. They include the Jubilee Chapel Centre which is located on Edinburgh Road, Kensington. Another option is Charles Thompson’s Mission, Hemingford Street, Birkenhead or the homeless can try the City Centre Cafe Outreach in Mount Pleasant. Several churches also partner with Liverpool City Mission.

While they are a faith based organisation, people of all religions and backgrounds may receive help with housing or other needs. The main support services are noted below, however they may have referrals to other local charities or churches in Liverpool too.

Housing support from City Mission

Whether someone is homeless or living in difficult circumstances, there may be help offered. They work to prevent more people from living on the streets or resettle those that need accommodations. So there can be advice on dealing with deposit requests from landlords, cold weather shelters, and other aid.

  • Free advice is provided. The homeless can learn about deposit schemes to pay for a new private accommodation. There may also be temporary or emergency shelters available year round.
  • Tenants that are living in poverty, unsafe housing, or that are in rent arrears can look into resettlement schemes. Or for those that owe rent to their landlord there may be referrals to housing benefits or payment programmes from the Liverpool Council may be provided.
  • Furniture distribution is another service from the Mission. This may be kitchen equipment, beds, or other basic furnishings. Much of this is passed out from the Charles Thompson’s Mission.

Information on housing can be obtained from the City Centre Outreach as well as other locations. There is free advice for the homeless, young people under the age of 25, substance abusers, and the vulnerable. The address of this site is 20 Mount Pleasant Liverpool, Merseyside L3 5RY.
