Hampshire emergency accommodations and shelters

There are several agencies in Hampshire that offer housing solutions to needy families. There are charities such as Stonham that operate multiple locations in the community as well as some agencies that have just one short term shelter available.

Each of the Hampshire agencies has restrictions in place. Emergency housing may be limited to people from a certain background. The organisations will also provide any other support that the client may need. As an example, if a vulnerable person has questions on what government housing benefits they are qualified for, then information on that can be provided too.

A2 Dominion and the accommodations at 33 Staple Gardens in Winchester is for young people under the age of 22. There can be some exceptions on age made if the Winchester area has a disability. Homeless veterans in Hampshire can turn to Alabare Christian Care and the Hants Home. Anyone that was in the British Armed Forces can use the housing, and they do not even need to be local to the area. Emmaus Hampshire is for the homeless that are dedicated to making changes. Volunteers will not only give them food or clothing, but signposting is also provided to everything from budgeting to job placement. Once they are ready to leave the shelter, the staff will help them move into a new home. Phone – 01962 868300.

Stonham has several emergency, short term housing sites for young people. Each has limited space. The guest will also be given practical support such as clothing and hygiene items. The locations are Alexandra Road, Farnborough, GU14 6DF, dial 01252 372462.

Another housing site is run by Stonham in partnership with the Eastleigh Borough Council. Call 023 8068 8000. Residents will be able to explore all government programmes available in the borough. This council scheme will also help the tenant resettle into a more affordable home.

Hampshire YMCA – This is for anyone in housing need that is under the age of 30. Staff will help the individual gain stability. Numerous services are coordinated for families on a low income in the city from the office at Eastrop Way. Not only is housing offered, but so are holiday meals, clothing, and more. May Place House is only for families local to Basingstoke and Deane district. The individual will be given temporary accommodation to stay is, or they can be signposted to a hostel. Two Saints is for single homeless people. The accommodations are run from a few addresses. The charity does rely on volunteers to keep it running. Guests will not only be given a bed to sleep in as well as access to laundry and hygiene items.

Winchester Churches Housing Group is for people with low support needs. So the applicant needs to have some source of income. If found eligible, the agency will provide housing accommodations for a short term stay. In some cases, the Winchester Churches have funds on hand for a rent deposit when ready to move on to a new home or flat. Call 01962 842757.

West View House provides shelter. Clients can be abusing alcohol or have mental health support needs. However they will need to be single. You – Blakes Housing Project is for residents local to Hampshire. Services provided include housing, food, and practical support.
