Jubilee Church assistance programmes

Jubilee Church is a charity in the Worthing area, and they are involved in helping the poor, less fortunate, and low income. There are several services provide to clients in both Adur and Worthing. Free items, link to financial assistance or benefits, and more is available. Specifically, they include:

  • Free furniture, household items, white goods, and supplies from Re-Loved.
  • Detox to help alcohol and substance abusers as part of Community Keys.
  • Free food and meals from the soup run and food bank.
  • Linkage to financial assistance and welfare schemes from the council, government, and other organisations.

The assistance is available to people local to the city of Worthing. In addition, for some of the programmes such as the food bank, applicants need to be referred to Jubilee Church. They may need a voucher from a social worker, GP, or the local council in order to get a free parcel of food, furniture, or other support they need.

Free emergency food is provided. Jubilee Church is part of the Trussell Trust food bank network, which operates across West Sussex and all of the UK. There is help for people in crisis as well as families in poverty. What the food bank may pass out includes dried or tinned foods, veggies, tea, and the like. Most of the items from the food bank come from volunteer drives as well as supermarkets.

When qualified, the family may be given groceries that last up to 3 days. In addition to Jubilee, there is free food at Cornerstone Methodist Church as well as St. Stephen’s Cafe Church. Clients usually are facing delays of benefits for their bills, threatened with unexpected unemployment, homelessness, sickness, or another emergency. If needed, find other places for free food

The homeless and vulnerable can drop in at the Jubilee Church Soup Run. Hot meals are given every week to help feed the poor, hungry, and families on a low income. It is a supper. The soup kitchen is at Civic Centre Car Park from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.

Clients can also be given vouchers for other goods. This may be clothing, referrals to shelter or rent deposit schemes, and other support. The Civic Centre may have sleeping bags, soup, team, coffee, shoes, toiletries, and more. The Church Run also coordinates medical care, information on free debt counselling, and other assistance. The church also operates the Worthing Winter Night Shelter for the homeless or those who sleep rough, and this is also part of the Soup Kitchen.

KEYS Community Detox helps people abusing substances. They can get assistance with medical or health care needs from a GP. Jubilee Church also arranges both spiritual from a Christian recovery 12 step programme and community support for abusers. The main number to ring for detox is 01273 987977.

Debt help is the a scheme that is part of the CAP Money Course. It is available 3 evenings per week in January and February. The cash-based scheme helps with money, paying debt, loans, and other bills. Christians Against Poverty partners with Jubilee Church as part of CAP. The service is effective at holistic approach to poverty as well as debt relief in Adur and Worthing.

Free furniture is part of Jubilee Church Re-Loved. It provides essential items, including beds, coaches, household items, Dining tables and chairs, kitchenware, white goods, sofas, and other goods. The goods are re-used and come from donations. Re-Loved will mainly help the poor and vulnerable, including addicts, the homelessness, sick, or people fleeing domestic abuse.
