Find help from Action Housing deposit schemes in South Yorkshire

Vulnerable and individuals on a low income can get support with their housing needs from Action Housing. The not-for-profit provides assistance to a number of people with connections to South Yorkshire. While funds are limited, they may issue bond guarantees for rent in advance, a scheme to pay deposits and other support. Clients of the agency include the homeless, substance misusers, young people, and people with a disability from Rotherham and nearby towns.

Housing and bond schemes from Action Housing

While many services are provided, the ones in highest demand include Bond Schemes. This is for the homeless in South Yorkshire that currently do not have private accommodations to live in. The aim is to help the individuals or families on a low income gain access to housing in the private landlord rented sector. The scheme is available in many towns, including Doncaster, Rotherham, and Derbyshire.

Ex-offenders, the disabled and substance misusers can get help from the Rotherham Right Bond Scheme. This is another programme that is focused on that group of individuals who are homeless. Supported and also Temporary Accommodation is offered for both couples and singles. It is a place for them to stay while there applications for a scheme or other service is being reviewed by the local housing authority. It is only for the Rotherham area and referrals are needed from the RMBC Homeless Team.

Another bond rent deposit scheme is offered from Doncaster Action/RDaSH. This is for clients on a low income that are accessing and actively engaging with RDaSH services. The Action Housing Move on Support Team, or MOST, will help individuals find permanent housing in South Yorkshire cities. It also provides information on rent in advance schemes and ongoing tenant support. The aim is to get the homeless to achieve independent living in a new, permanent accommodation.

Social housing is provided by Action Housing. This is for families or individuals on a low income that are in need. There are affordable units in Derby City, Rotherham, Chesterfield, and other areas and local districts. The number of units is very limited and families may need to wait for accommodations.

Housing is also for those impacted by domestic abuse. It is for women, young people, or even men if they qualify. The programme can assist applicants in applying for bond guarantees and overall the resettlement into a new home.

As part of this, Action Housing provides other free advice and support to those in social housing. This may be for obtaining furniture for the flat, claiming the right housing benefits, and addressing unemployment. There is also assistance for domestic abuse survivors who are in rent arrears to their landlord and are facing homelessness. The goal is to promote stability and independence, while ensuring the women is safe.

The Young Persons is supported housing in South Yorkshire. There are hostels, shared homes and flats, and other accommodations for the young in the community. The accommodations are not permanent, and it can last up to 2 years if found eligible. There is housing for those under 24 years of age as well as the currently homeless in Rotherham.

Get advice from tenancy support services

Housing assistance is important, but tenancy support is key to preventing future homelessness. Action Housing therefore provides other, ongoing advice. This can include things such as job training or placement for the vulnerable. Social workers will help clients with benefits maximisation and reducing debts. Other aid is provided too. The unemployed in Rotherham and South Yorkshire can also get assistance.

The support from the not-for profit will help participants to gain the skills, experience and knowledge that is required to develop their skills for employment. This should result in higher incomes, which can be effective for paying rental expenses. It will also improve the tenants independence.

Tenants can benefit from Action Housing Floating Support. This service will help them maintain their current home. Receive information on emergency rental assistance, schemes when needing resettle, and other support such as money management. It is a short to long term housing support service with the goal of helping them retain permanent accommodation.

Similar to above is the Private Sector Project. This is also floating tenant support to people on a low income that have been resettled. Most of the clients are families are individuals that live within the Private Landlord Rented Sector. It can refer people to deposit and bond schemes referenced above and other support.

Supported Accommodation and Floating Support is part of the organisation’s Generic Service. It is for the homeless and low income with complex needs over the age of 25. This can include ex-offenders and substance misusers, and is another form of support from the charity.
