St. Annes housing services and community assistance

Housing and other social services from St. Annes can help the low income and vulnerable. The charity provides assistance for a number of needs, however a focus is on homelessness. Staff work with clients to place them into new accommodations, help them with applying for rental deposits, and offer ongoing stability services.

Programmes are provided across a wide territory, including the towns of Leeds, Bradford, and Calderdale. They offer services for the homeless, people with disabilities or a mental health issue as well. Information and referrals are provided from various locations, however the main resource centre is in Leeds.

Many other agencies and housing authorities work with St Anne’s to help the vulnerable. They partner with Community Safety Partnerships, Primary Care Trusts, social workers and Supporting People Teams. No matter what is offered, whether it is information on rent in advance schemes or some other housing support, the solutions will be customized to each and every person and their specific needs.

Housing in West Yorkshire is for both short and long term accommodations. There are options for substance misusers or the elderly. Also, young people may also benefit. Some of the social services offered range from adult Placement to domiciliary and respite care. They also help with recovery when needed.

Homeless support services are provided mostly from hostels, the Resource Centre, and outreach services. The main location is in Leeds, and individual can get referrals and information from the location. In some cases, St. Annes is not even able to help, and referrals may be provided to other local charities or churches in West Yorkshire.

Ongoing tenancy support and advice is also available for the formerly homeless. So as someone’s needs change over time, then St. Annes will continue to change the goals and services provided. It will eventually evolve into more of a homeless prevention type solution for clients.

The Resource Centre is the main place for community assistance. The Leeds location helps hundreds of homeless and individuals on a low income every year. A goal is on housing, so to this end they provide free advice on deposit programmes as well as housing benefits. Much more is offered though.

Clients can benefit from a safe mail address, free access to primary health care, education classes, and help for drug and alcohol issues. Anything that the St. Annes center can’t help with may be supported in the form of referrals to other local charities or churches.

Resettlement also takes place at the Resource Centre. Workers are available to help individuals on a low income. This can include help in applying for rental or cash grants, finding their own accommodation and to support tenants after they move into a home. St. Annes will also hold weekly training sessions to help people maintain a healthy diet, budget, and develop other skills.

Hostels for short term accommodations

There are several that the homeless can call upon. Each will provide a place to stay as well as ongoing support services. The locations will have the applicant go through a needs assessment process in which a plan will be created.

The aim of any service is to help the client find long term accommodations. Social workers will help the individual re-settle somewhere in West Yorkshire. They will also be able to explore any type of arrangements with landlords that may be able to help, such as some bond guarantees that are in place by charities. Ongoing tenancy support is arranged too. This is mostly provided by the Homeless Action Outreach Team.

Leeds based Holdforth Court is for single, homeless men. Occupants will have access to kitchen facilities, safe single rooms, and other support. The aid is to help the male break the cycle of homelessness. Anyone using the Court needs to have referrals from the Leeds City Council.

After an assessment takes place, they may find short term accommodations. In addition to that, the person will partner with their St. Annes key worker to find more long term, permanent accommodation. This will involve a resettlement plan, exploring funds for rental expenses, and applications for housing benefits.

The hostel at Bevin Court is another location that is based in Sheffield. It will give temporary accommodation for men over the age of 18. Clients will receive free advice and support. The aid is to help the person find and pay the deposit on their own private accommodation in the area.

The accommodation will use a key worker to advise and assist the homeless individual. This will include the creation of a plan for long term, permanent placement into affordable accommodations.

The main address of the centre is at 66 York Street, Leeds, LS9 8AA, Phone – 0113 243 1894. Information is offered on the services above, or referrals may be provided.
