North East Derbyshire deposit help from bond guarantee scheme

With the average outlay for a rent deposit being over £1,000 in North East Derbyshire, the council has created a programme to help families cover this cost. The Bond Guarantee scheme will involve the tenant, landlord, and housing team to all agree to help a resident on a low income pay for private rented accommodation in the district.

The scheme is available for the vulnerable in the area. The Private Sector Housing Team run programme will also give priority to those in housing need as determined by the government rules. Many of the people who apply for a bond may be either homelessness or threatened with it. They will often have other challenges too, such as have a disability, be older, or have a mental illness.

Support and application process for a bond in North East Derbyshire

The scheme will provide a bond that will help pay the deposit of up to one month worth of rent cost. However the maximum guarantee will be £1,000. While the funds are not very high, the Private Sector Housing Team can also help the resident find affordable accomodations. There are many eligibility conditions to receiving this though.

The main one may be the aim is to prevent homelessness in North East Derbyshire. So the person needs to now be sleeping rough, or they can be threatened with an eviction. If they are close to being evicted, then the bond guarantee will be used to help pay the rent deposit on a new flat for the tenant. It will also be combined with other support, such as the housing advice below.

Anyone applying to the bond scheme needs to be on a low income. They also can’t have had past evictions or debts due to the North East Derbyshire council and can’t have damage a home they rented in the past. While the council is willing to help using this scheme, they will not assist those families or individuals that have created their own problems.

The housing team at the North East Derbyshire also works with the tenant to help them maintain the agreement. This long term support will be given to anyone who receives rent deposit help from the bond guarantee scheme. It is also open to other people from the district, no matter what they of home they rent or their financial situation. The free advice is also meant to stop homelessness.

If someone needs to find a job with a livable wage, then the team will refer them to training, including on IT skills. Citizens Advice office at 126 High Street, Clay Cross (phone 844 848 9800) is another partner of the North East Derbyshire Council, and they do will help with issues ranging from debts to housing. Many services are available to those who rent in the private sector.
