The Salvation Centre in Camden works in partnership with the Cambria House, local council, and other agencies to help the low income, homeless, and poor. Everything from free meals to grants to pay rent deposits, clothes, form filling for welfare and other social services are provided. The aim of the Christian, faith based charity is to help the vulnerable in Camden get emergency help as well as long term support.

Help for homeless from Camden Salvation Army is run through the Cambria House. The accommodation takes a holistic, Christian approach to finding stable housing for men and assisting with the underlying condition which caused homelessness, whether debt, rent arrears, joblessness or something else. The Salvation Army in Camden offers many assistance programmes to the needy in the borough.

Emergency Assistance

The Camden Salvation Army offers five types of emergency assistance. Some are administered directly by the Salvation Army and others are run in partnership with Trussell Trust, Camden Council Community Awards, local housing authorities, or other charities. The five forms of financial aid are noted below.

  • Food parcels and Meal Parcels – Free canned or tinned meat, tea, coffee, biscuits, vegetables, bread and more may be passed out to the needy or homeless in Camden. The Camden Salvation Army is a Trussell Trust partner.
  • Grants for single homeless met – The Cambria House provides grants (in partnership with council) for rent deposits as well as to help homeless men get passports or documentation.
  • Utility Top Ups – The Camden Salvation Army will help clients pay their utility bills by topping up their pre-paid utility meter. This will help a family on a low income keep their electric or gas on.
  • Homeless drop in centres – The Cambria House is the agency that offers this. It is a housing as well as re-settlement programme for the homeless, and stresses Christian growth. There are showers, meals and other services.

Basic needs are offered from the Camden salvation Army. Based on donations, there may be baby supplies, water, clothes, seasonal goods like Christmas toys and other free vouchers for items.
Those are the main social services from the Salvation Army Camden. But other aid may be offered from time to time. Plus, case workers can link clients to other schemes, whether welfare, charitable, and much more. The telephone number is 020 7841 0230.
