Tuition costs for medical or veterinarian training can be partially covered thanks to the Sir John Sumner’s Trust. Sometimes alternately called The John Sumner Trust, this charity can assist with educational expenses for those who cannot afford the full cost of university studies.
Up to £400 may be paid towards tuition and course fees, a computer or certain living costs for university students. Rent or utilities could be paid through some of the funds as long as those expenses are in support of the education. Basically any direct educational cost can be included in the grant request.
If approved, a one-off grant will be submitted on behalf of the applicant. It is the goal of the trustees to promote the achievement of medical professionals. Proceeds from this grant may be combined with several other sources of funding to provide each student with a major portion of their total educational costs.
Grants are intended to support the overall achievement of a degree within the medical profession. Students must be enrolled in courses pertaining to medicine, including nursing or veterinary studies.
The Trustees have expressed that funds should not be applied towards coursework that pertains to political or religious subjects. This should be easy to adhere to with a courseload full of medical classes.
Referrals by the college are required for consideration. The financial aid department can assist with this. They can also help with the application for funding. It is recommended to include at least one other recommendation along with the request for funding.
