St Cuthberts services and assistance in Earls Court

St Cuthberts receives grants from various sources to run their drop in centre. The staff at the charity will help the vulnerable and low income in Earls County and nearby boroughs of London. More information on the services they offer, whether it is a hot meal, use of a computer, practical needs, or advice on applying for financial aid or benefits, assistance is provided.

Most of the clients of the drop in centre come from the Earls Court borough, however the charity will also offer help to others in the nearby communities too if they need it. Anyone that is struggling with their bills or drowning in debts can drop in. The location is open Monday through Friday from 10:30am – 3:30pm.

Food programmes – There is both a breakfast and lunch served. Some of the meals come with a low cost from the client, but the charity will subsidize the expense. Other help can be in the form of food bank vouchers to London sites or fresh goods, such as sandwiches.

Computers from St Cuthberts – People can use free Wi-Fi and internet access to search for jobs. Other uses may be to apply for benefits, loans from credit unions for paying bills, or local welfare grant schemes. The volunteers also hold basic computer lessons. The sessions are usually held on Tuesday and Thursday.

Practical support – There is free clothing available as well as a laundry as well as shower facilities. This form of assistance is also offered to homeless families in London as well.

Counseling and advice is giving by the caring staff at St Cuthberts. This is what is used to help the person overcome their financial hardship. The drop in centre has information on programmes which will help the family overcome their hardship. The staff also work closely with the debt counseling services from CAP, though they are not a follow member organisation.

Winter Initiative – The homeless in Earls Court, or individuals on a low income that can’t afford a coat or blanket, can be given free clothing. There may be hats, gloves, sleeping bags, scarfs, and more.

Help for the disabled – Partnering with other London organisations, the charity offers Mental Health Services and support to individuals impacted with this.

Other activities – There are reading groups, leisure activities such as knitting for older people, Art classes, summer outings, and much more. Pensioners are heavy users of this service.

People coming for advice on their support needs includes the low income, homeless, disabled, and seniors over the age of 60. These tend to be the individuals that struggle the most in Earls Court. Many of them are living in poverty. Staff from the charity try to help the clicnt overcome their hardships.

One key service from St Cuthberts is the fact they operate as a referral hub. The volunteers will signpost the client to programmes for their needs. If the person is found eligible for the support above, then this will be offered. The team at the drop in centre get all sorts of requests. They also partner with local Citizens Advice in Earls Court, food banks as well as the council to coordinate support for families in poverty. With the cost of housing increasing in Eastern London, many people need referrals to rent deposit schemes, and St Cuthberts can provide this.

The drop in at St Cuthberts has an address of The Philbeach Hall, 51 Philbeach Gardens, Earls Court, London. The main phone number is 020 7835 1389.
