Wyre Forest grants and vouchers from Welfare Scheme

People local to the Wyre Forest District and that are either facing an emergency or living in poverty can apply to the Welfare Scheme for a grant. The council can provide financial aid to the vulnerable to help them with bills ranging from energy to housing costs. The Welfare Scheme will also help re-integrate individuals into the district by offering free debt advice and other support.

Any assistance is provided in partnership with other organisations in the district, including CAB. Since the aim of any government scheme is to help people regain their independence, and get off welfare, the programme will include support from Citizens Advice and other charities on reducing debts as well as specialists will show people how to maximise their income.

Grants from welfare in the Wyre Forest district

When it comes to assisting with housing, the support will not only include homeless prevention but also access to new items for their new flat. This is for tenants that live in the private rented sector. If the family is on a low income but is in a social housing accommodation, then they will be linked to benefits for their needs. So people of all backgrounds can find some sort of help to stop homelessness.

Welfare can support clients who live in their own home. Most of the aid will be counseling, but some families may be given a grant for paying some of any rental arrears. This can be paid from Wyre Forest Welfare Scheme or the customer service team will refer the person to DHPs.

Another housing cost that can be paid during the winter (November to March) will be energy or heating bills. Any funds from the council will be paid out at most one time per year, and the resident needs to have a full assessment done before a grant is issued.

The grant, which will top off the household’s meter, is for an emergency only. The authorities will require that the family learn how to conserve energy to reduce the amount of their future bills. This is one of the key methods to ensuring a disconnection does not occur in the future. Also, the council at Wyre Forest will also link the family to the Citizens Advice centre that is local to the district, and there they will learn budgeting as well. This office has a phone number of 03444-111444 and is located in Worcestershire.

Tenants or people that own their home can be given in kind gifts as well. This is another type of housing assistance. Welfare can provide families with tables, chairs, white goods, appliances, clothes, bedding, utensils, pans, crockery, beds, nappies, or sofas as well. This can be used to help the Wyre Forest family gain Independence as it gives them a solid start in their new home.

The Wyre Forest Welfare Scheme will also pay for Council Tax arrears. This is not common from government aid, as most local authorities will not pay for this cost. Not only may a grant be provided for this bill, but the customer service specialist may also enroll the client into a payment plan. Or they will see if the person is eligible for a discount on their council tax.

Information and referral is given too. The Wyre Forest Welfare Scheme can not pay all the bills that a family may have. Or a individual local to the district may not be eligible for welfare. No matter the issue, the following support may be provided.

The council can direct a resident to a local food bank in Wyre Forest, in which vouchers are given for a parcel of food, tinned items, or nappies. This can be used to feed a family. There are many places to turn to, and locate food banks for free parcels of groceries.

Other linkage can be to the rent deposit scheme in the area, which is for the up front costs for private sector housing. Other assistance may be provided too.

Anyone applying for welfare will have a full assessment done. The customer service team can be called at 01562 73292, and if a payment is made it will be directly to the landlord or energy provider. Cash is never given to the family. Any type of help from the welfare scheme in Wyre Forest will also come with free money advice from the CAB, as indicated above.
